How AI helps when you Auto-plan

Your phone builds the plan. With AI assistance on, it also asks a few narrow questions along the way, and an answer only counts if it passes the phone's own checks. Premium

The phone plans. The AI advises.

Every Auto-plan and Re-plan is built on your phone, from opening hours, travel time, day length and your pace. No AI call is ever needed to make a plan. When AI assistance is on, the app asks the AI a handful of narrow questions, checks each answer against the same rules, and throws away any answer that fails. The phone's own plan stands whenever the AI can't help.

What changes when AI assistance is on

Flip the switch to see the same steps with and without it.

  • The order of your citiesYour phone proposes the order it measured as most practical. The AI chooses between orders your phone has already measured. It picks one of them. It never invents an order.
  • Travel between areasYour phone's own estimates of the journey.A second opinion on how people usually make each journey, which airport or station is really used, and whether an area is worth the detour. It's recalled from memory, not a live timetable, and it's labelled "AI suggested".
  • Days inside each areaYour phone orders the stops by opening hours, travel and pace. The AI reads each area's places and suggests a better day order, the best time for each place and which days are light. Your phone applies it only if it passes every check.
  • Facts on your datesOpening hours from the app's own place pages."Check this trip online" can look up closing days, closures and holidays on your dates.
  • The scheduleReal times from opening hours and travel times. The same schedule, plus local weather guidance for each scheduled day.

What the AI can't do

  • It can't change a transfer, a rest day, a day count or how big a day is.
  • It can't make the plan worse by the phone's own measure. If an AI plan adds travel or breaks a rule, the phone keeps its own.
  • It can't invent places. It reorders what you saved.

What it can do, and you should know

  • Leave an area out. If it judges an area isn't worth the detour, that area goes back to your saved places. A place you marked must-do is never left out. You can add it back.
  • Add a day to an area that needs one, with a stated reason.
  • Mark a day as light. That's what lets the app offer ideas for the free time.

What you see while it runs

  • A panel that blocks the screen so the trip can't change underneath it. It lists each AI request with a spinner, then a tick or a cross and how long it took.
  • While the order of your cities is chosen: "Choosing the order of your cities" with "Comparing the orders we measured for your trip."
  • When it's finished, a one-line note tells you which of these happened: the AI sharpened your plan, a saved answer was reused and nothing new was asked, or the plan was made on the phone alone because the AI step didn't answer.

Re-plan reuses what it already knows

A re-plan runs the same steps, but it only asks again about what changed. A saved answer for the same trip is reused, so pressing Re-plan twice in one sitting usually costs nothing the second time. That's part of how the AI stays within fair use.

Limits

Auto-plan has no daily count. It does draw on the monthly allowances every traveller shares. If one is used up, the plan carries on without it. See When the AI doesn't answer.
