What premium is

Premium is OffYaGo's free, by-invitation tier. It switches on the AI help; everything else in the app is free for everyone.

The short version

OffYaGo doesn't charge anyone. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and no ads. Premium costs nothing. It's a tier a person switches on for you, and what it turns on is the AI help.

What you get without premium

Everyone, including people who haven't signed in, can browse places, read tips and opening hours, and see the map. With an account you can save places, build trips, let the app lay your days out, build a schedule, share a trip with friends and export a PDF. All of that is planned on your own phone by rules we wrote, and none of it needs AI.

A plan made without AI is a complete plan. The AI is an extra pair of eyes, not a requirement.

What premium turns on

Premium lets you switch on AI assistance in Profile. That one switch covers the AI features that use Google Gemini:

Under it, three more switches use Perplexity for day ideas, where to stay and the trip cost estimate. Every AI switch starts off. You choose, feature by feature. See Turning on AI assistance for what each one does.

Why it's by invitation

Every AI answer costs us real money each time it runs, far more than the rest of the app put together. Instead of putting a price on it, we switch AI on by hand for travellers who will help us make it better. That's why you're asked what you'd use it for and how you'll help when you ask for premium. A person reads every request.

Because the AI is shared, there's a fair use policy to keep it available for everyone: Fair use of AI trip planning.

Founding members

A small group of the people who helped build OffYaGo are Founding members. Their premium never expires and they don't need to ask. Their Profile shows a Founding member mark. Everyone else asks for premium for a set period.

How long it lasts

Premium is for a date. You pick the date you'd like it until when you ask (up to 90 days ahead), and the person who approves it may shorten or extend that. When the date passes, you're back on the free tier, your trips are untouched, and you can ask again. See What your Premium row says and When premium ends or isn't renewed.

What premium doesn't do

  • It doesn't unlock extra places, trips, days or photos. Those are the same for everyone.
  • It doesn't make AI answers guaranteed. They're suggestions. See How far to trust AI suggestions.
  • It isn't something you can buy. If you see a price for OffYaGo premium anywhere, it isn't from us.
