App Lock: PIN, Face ID and Touch ID
Lock the app behind a PIN, with Face ID or Touch ID as a shortcut. Locking doesn't sign you out. Needs an account
App Lock keeps people who pick up your phone out of your trips. It's for accounts only, because there's nothing to protect on a phone with no session.
Set a PIN
- Profile → Security → Set a PIN. You can also be offered it right after you first sign in: "Create a PIN to lock the app when you're away."
- Choose a 4- or 6-digit PIN. This is the only screen that offers the choice.
- "Enter it once more to confirm."
- If your iPhone has Face ID or Touch ID you're offered it as a shortcut.
What locking does
When you've been away, the app covers itself with a lock screen. Your place in the app isn't lost: unlock and you're back where you were. Locking doesn't sign you out.
Change or turn off
- Change PIN asks for your current PIN first.
- Turn Off PIN asks for your current PIN too, and the confirmation says what happens to Face ID.
- The Face ID or Touch ID switch appears when a PIN is set and your phone supports it. If you denied permission, an Enable in Settings shortcut appears.
Too many wrong PINs
The app counts attempts. After too many you'll see "Too many attempts. Try again in" and a countdown, and must wait.
Forgot your PIN
On the PIN screen, tap Forgot PIN? Sign Out. That signs you out. Sign in again with Apple, and set a new PIN if you want one. Your trips and saved places are kept in your account.
