Home Base
The city you start from. Auto-plan uses it to work out your flights and the order to visit areas in. Needs an account
Home Base is your starting point, for example Melbourne, Australia. You pick a city, not an airport. The app works out the nearest airport itself when it plans the first and last legs of a trip.
Set or change it
- Profile → Account → Home Base.
- Search for a city, such as "Melbourne". The prompt says "Search for a city — like Melbourne, Australia — to set as your Home Base."
- Tap the result. It's saved. The screen shows your Current Home Base.
What it's for
- The order Auto-plan proposes for your areas starts and ends at your home, so a far-off area isn't tacked on awkwardly.
- The first and last legs of the trip, including whether day 1 is a rest day after a long flight.
What's stored
"We store the city you pick and its location — never your exact address." The search runs on your phone with Apple Maps, and the city, country and time zone are worked out from that location using OpenStreetMap data. Nothing is sent to Google.
Without one
Home Base isn't required. Without it Profile says "Home base not set", and Auto-plan makes the plan without a home to start from. Set one for the best flights and order. See Auto-plan and Re-plan.
