Travel days and rest days

A day that moves you somewhere looks a little different: a photo of the vehicle, the journey at the top, and a light plan around it.

When a day's main event is getting from one area to another, it's a travel day. It opens like any other day but is built around the move.

A rest day after a long flight: a note, the flight from Melbourne with hours travelling and in the air, and the first base
A long-haul arrival day.

What's different

  • The photo and title show the way you travel, such as a plane, and the route: "Melbourne, Australia → Hakata Ward". A line says "Day 1 of 10 · rest day · by air".
  • The journey sits first under "Your day, in order": where you leave, how long you'll be travelling, and when you expect to arrive, such as "about 16 hrs travelling · about 10 hrs 15 in the air" and "about 11:00".
  • Your plan around it is light, and says why.

Rest days after a long flight

If the flight is long, the app plans the first night around sleep: "It's a long flight, so we've planned tonight around a proper sleep and start the trip tomorrow. You're staying close to where you land. If you're up for it, a stroll and something to eat nearby is plenty — nothing that needs booking." Day 1 then holds the flight, a hotel near where you land, and little else.

Long journeys on the ground

  • A journey of more than about three and a half hours leaves at checkout time for the country, so it doesn't clash with breakfast or a visit.
  • The day after it is for settling in: bags, rest and a wander. The day says "Light day".
  • A shorter transfer can leave earlier, and the morning is planned around it.

Excursions and days out

A day that's an out-and-back from a base, to a distant stop and back, is labelled that way. In some countries with a long midday heat, the afternoon is left lighter on purpose and nothing is planned from late morning until mid-afternoon.

Free time

A travel day with nothing else on it can offer ideas for the free time. See Day ideas for a free day.

The flight home

The last day shows the flight home and no hotel card. The plan leaves time to reach the airport before it.
