Trip mate limits
How many people can share a trip, how long codes and invitations last, and why those limits exist. Needs an account
| What | The limit |
|---|---|
| People on one trip | 8, including the organiser. A pending invitation holds a seat. |
| Trips you can be a mate on | 10 at a time. Your own trips are counted separately. |
| How long a mate code works | 24 hours |
| How long an invitation waits for an answer | 14 days |
| Invitations to the same person for the same trip | 3 |
| Mate codes you can try in an hour | A small number, then "Too many tries — wait an hour" |
These can change in a later version. This page is updated when they do.
Why they exist
- Small groups. A trip planned by eight can still be a real plan. A trip planned by eighty can't.
- Codes and caps keep people safe. Short-lived codes, a hand-over every time and a cap on tries mean an invitation can't be sent to a stranger or guessed.
- No spam. The cap on repeat invitations is there so nobody can keep inviting someone who has said no.
If you get an invitation you don't want, just Decline. They can't invite you again without a fresh code from you. See Accepting an invitation and joining a trip.
